Eisenstat Wins Award for AL Dominance

They say you can't teach an old dog new tricks, but in the case of Harry Eisenstat of the Detroit Tigers, you don't have to - his old tricks worked just fine in 1954.

The 39-year-old veteran turned in a sparkling performance and has won the AL Reliever of the Year Award.

He captured the award with 22 saves in 69 relief appearances, 46 strikeouts and 23 walks in 95.2 innings. He put up a record of 10-5 to go with his 3.10 ERA.

He received 13 first place votes out of a possible 16. Bill Sayles of the Chicago White Sox finished second in voting with 3 first place votes, while Johnny Johnson of the Boston Red Sox finished third.
