New York-Chicago Announce Deal Friday, October 8th , 1954 It took some time to iron out the details, but the Yankees and Cubs have agreed to a swap. Chicago will get 21-year old C Johnny Blanchard with New York receiving 30-year old RHP Turk Lown in return. A source close to the trade talks said the two clubs were initially looking to make a bigger deal, but discussions broke off late last night. The two sides reconvened early today and eventually settled on this deal. |
