Bevens Shuts Out Brooklyn, 2-0
Sunday, September 5th , 1954
The New York Giants posted a 2-0 shutout over the Brooklyn Dodgers behind a strong performance by Bill Bevens. The Giants pitcher, who finished 3rd in the NL in innings pitched with 224.1 in 1949, held the Dodgers to 4 hits while walking 3 and fanning 9 in the route-going win.
"It feels good to be wearing a New York Giants uniform today," the right-hander said, following the game.
In 29 starts this season, Bevens has compiled a 20-6 record and a 3.43 ERA.
